Anja Mittag (born May 16, 1985 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German soccer player . In 158 international matches for the German national team, she scored 50 goals. Only three players have achieved more stakes .

Beginnings

Anja Mittag's footballing beginnings are in her hometown with VfB Chemnitz and Chemnitzer FC . She then worked for FC Erzgebirge Aue .

1. FFC Turbine Potsdam

In 2002 she moved to the first division club 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . In the season 2003/2004 she won with the Potsdam the double of championship and cup win . After the end of the 2005/06 season she moved from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam to Sweden to QBIK Karlstad to play the second half of the Swedish championship season there before returning to Potsdam for the second half of the Bundesliga. In this way, Mittag wanted to get to know a different football culture. Unlike Potsdam, however, she played with Karlstad against relegation from the Swedish first division . After her return to Potsdam, two less successful years followed, in which only third place was achieved in the championship. In the 2008/2009 season she was again German champion with Turbine. Potsdam won because of the better goal difference over Bayern Munich and Mittag was the second best goalscorer of the season with 21 goals. In the following two years the championship title was defended and Mittag was the best scorer in Potsdam in both seasons. In 2010 she played in the UEFA Women's Champions League final against Olympique Lyon , which was decided in favor of the Potsdam women on penalties, even though Mittag had not converted her penalty.

LdB FC Malmö / FC Rosengård

On December 19, 2011, Mittag signed a two-year contract with the Swedish first division club LdB FC Malmö, later FC Rosengård , and was eligible to play for their new club from January 2012. In her first competitive game for the new club at the end of March, shortly before the end of the game, she scored the decisive goal for the 2-1 victory over Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC in the Supercupen . Noon returned to FC Rosengård on March 31, 2017 . At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, Mittag took 4th place with the DFB team; midday played six games and scored five goals. As the third best goalscorer of the tournament, she was awarded the "Bronze Shoe".

In 2016, Mittag was added to the national team for the women's Olympic football tournament in Brazil. It was used in all six tournament games of the German team and won the gold medal in the final against Sweden .

On March 7, 2017, Mittag scored her 50th international goal in a 1-0 win against England in the 2017 SheBelieves Cup . Five days earlier she had played her 150th international match against the USA.

On August 22, 2017, Mittag announced her retirement from the national team.
