Melanie Leupolz (born April 14, 1994 in Wangen im Allgäu ) is a German soccer player . She has been part of the English first division club Chelsea LFC since the 2020/21 season . Before that, she played from July 1, 2014 for Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich , with whom she won the German championship twice. Leupolz has been playing for the senior national team since 2013 , with which she became European champion in 2013 and Olympic champion in 2016 .

Melanie Leupolz got through the soccer departments of the clubs TSV Ratzenried and TSV Tettnang 2010 to the second division club SC Freiburg , for whom she won on August 8, 2010 in the first round of the club cup, in the 7-0 win at Hegauer FV , with a goal contributed to her team. At the end of their first season, the promotion to the Bundesliga was certain. She made her Bundesliga debut on August 21, 2011 (first matchday) in a 2-2 draw in the away game against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr , where she scored her first goal with the opening goal to make it 1-0 in the 15th minute.

On February 17, 2014, she announced her move at the end of the season to FC Bayern Munich, who provided her with a contract until June 30, 2017. She made her debut for Bayern on August 31, 2014 (first match day) in a 1-1 draw in the home game against 1. FFC Frankfurt . She scored her first goal in the Bayern jersey on matchday five in a 3-0 win in the away game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen with the opening goal in the 37th minute. Melanie Leupolz made her debut in the national jersey on April 15, 2009 in Rhede in the 5-0 win of the U-15 national team in the test international against the Netherlands; she scored her first international goal on July 29, 2009 in Wermelskirchen in a 6-1 win against Scotland's selection with the goal of the final score in the 80th minute.

Leupolz played for the U-17 national team from 2009 to 2011 ; she made her debut on September 6, 2009 in a 10-0 win over the selection of Israel. She took part in the 2010 European Championship in Switzerland from June 22nd to 26th, 2010 and scored on June 26th, 2010 in the game for third place, in the 3-0 win against the Netherlands, with the goal for the interim 2 : 0 in the 56th minute also their first international goal for this national team. From July 28 to 31, 2011, she again took part in the European Championship . As the captain , she awarded the decisive penalty in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals . In 2016 she was added to the squad for the Olympic soccer tournament in Brazil . The team won the gold medal with a 2-1 win in the final against Sweden . For this purpose, Leupolz and the other medal winners were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Gauck on November 1, 2016 .

Due to a knee injury, she was unable to take part in the 2017 European Championships in the Netherlands. At the 2019 World Cup , she was back on the German team . Leupolz was used in four games, in the last group game against South Africa she scored the opening goal . By being eliminated in the quarter-finals, the team missed qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games.
