The 2015/16 season was the 26th season of the women's Bundesliga , officially Allianz Women's Bundesliga , in women's football . The season began on August 28, 2015 and ended with the last matchday on May 22, 2016. The champions and runners-up qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League , while the last two teams were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga .

Defending champion FC Bayern Munich was able to successfully defend his title. As in the previous year, FC Bayern Munich won the championship for both women and men. Munich moved into the UEFA Women's Champions League together with runner-up VfL Wolfsburg . The two promoted Werder Bremen and 1. FC Köln had to relegate back to the 2nd Bundesliga after just one season. The top scorer was Mandy Islacker from 1. FFC Frankfurt with 17 goals.

On the third to last game day, the Munich team made it possible to defend their title perfectly with a 5-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The fight for the runner-up was decided on the last day of the game. The Wolfsburg won 5: 2 against relegated 1. FC Köln and had a point ahead of 1. FFC Frankfurt, who defeated Leverkusen 4: 1. Both relegated teams were already determined ahead of time.

    142,001 spectators attended the 132 games of the Bundesliga season, 7,494 more than in the previous season. The average attendance rose from 1,019 to 1,076. This means an increase of about six percent. 1. FFC Frankfurt had the highest average attendance, while 1. FC Köln welcomed the fewest spectators. SC Freiburg recorded the greatest increase in viewers and was able to increase its average by 73 percent. In contrast, the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam experienced the largest decrease in attendance at 13 percent. Curiously, the two clubs with the highest average attendance were the clubs that had fewer spectators than in the previous season. Most of the spectators saw the game between 1. FFC Frankfurt and FC Bayern Munich, which was followed by 4,760 spectators. Only 215 spectators wanted to see the game between 1. FC Köln and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
