The theater affections was a fringe theater group in Berlin in 1992 as a production community of students at the Free University was founded.

history

In 1992, the Affekt Theater was founded as a production group of the Swiss theater director Stefan Bachmann , the German dramaturge Thomas Jonigk , the German set designer Ricarda Beilharz , the Swiss-German later artistic director of the Zurich theater Tom Till and the current director of the Hanover theater Lars-Ole Walburg .

The author of the group of directors, dramaturges and stage designers was Thomas Jonigk. The Affekt theater became famous in the years that followed with productions by Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare (1992) and Penthesilea by Heinrich von Kleist . Jonigk's piece You should give me grandchildren was premiered in 1994 by Bachmann. "Perpetrator" followed in 2000.

The Affekt theater performed its independent productions without a permanent home in, among other places, the studio of the Renaissance theater , the Zerbelte Fenster Theater and the Sophiensæle Berlin. As an actor, the group was able to engage stage greats such as Anna Böttcher , Gesine Cukrowski and Gerd Lukas Storzer during this time .

In 1995 Bachmann received the Friedrich-Luft-Preis with Theater Affekt for the production of Lila , a Singspiel based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe . The jury of the Berliner Morgenpost praised the theater work of a young generation who are trying to find their way through an opaque, fragmented world with an ideology-free understanding, wit and courage .

Ricarda Beilharz was named Young Stage Designer of the Year in 1996 and Stage Designer of the Year in 1999 by Theater heute .
