Melanie Behringer (born November 18, 1985 in Lörrach ) is a former German soccer player . She was most recently under contract with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and played 123 games for the German national team .
Player career
societies
Behringer began playing football in Utzenfeld at the local game association from the E-youth . You score a remarkable 66 goals within one season. After the end of the season in the D-youth age group (still together with boys), she came to SC Freiburg in 2003 via FC Hausen, which is based in the Lörrach district . After five seasons in the Bundesliga in which she played 97 league games and scored 30 goals, she moved to competitor FC Bayern Munich . She stayed there for two seasons and moved to league rivals 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2010 , with whom she won the DFB Cup on March 26, 2011 in Cologne with a 2-1 win over 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . With the announcement of her change of club on March 21, 2014, she has been playing again for FC Bayern Munich since the 2014/15 season , with which she received a contract valid until June 30, 2017. In 2015 she won her first German championship with the Munich women . On February 22, 2019, Melanie Behringer announced that she would end her professional football career after the 2018/19 season due to a knee injury.
National team
Behringer went through the U-19 and U-21 national team after the South Baden selection . On August 8, 2004, she lost the final of the U-19 European Championship against Spain 1: 2. In the same year Behringer won the U-19 World Championship . In the knockout round (from the quarterfinals) of the World Cup tournament in Thailand , she scored one goal in every game. In the quarter-finals, Behringer converted the first penalty in a penalty shoot-out after it was 1: 1 after extra time. In the semifinals she scored 2-1 in the 69th minute of the game (final score 3-1). In the final in Bangkok on November 27, 2004 against China, Behringer made the German team's victory perfect with their 2-0 in the 82nd minute.
On January 28, 2005, she made her debut in the senior national team in Quanzhou ( China ) . In the game against Australia she was in the starting line-up and was substituted for Isabell Bachor in the 64th minute of the game . She scored her first international goal on March 9, 2006 against Finland . With the national team she became world champion in China in 2007 , bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and European champion in 2009 . At the 2011 World Cup in Germany, Behringer was part of the team and played in three games.
On February 29, 2012, she wore the captain's armband for the first time in a game played as part of the Algarve Cup against the national team of Iceland . With the German selection, she won the tournament with a 4: 3 in the final in Faro against world champions Japan.
On September 17, 2014, she made her 100th international match in the last World Cup qualifier against Ireland as the 20th German player and scored the 1-0 opening goal .
On May 24, 2015 she was appointed to the final squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada by national coach Silvia Neid .
In 2016, Behringer was added to the national team for the women's Olympic football tournament in Brazil. It was used in all six tournament games of the German team and won the gold medal in the final against Sweden . With five goals, she became the tournament's top scorer .
After the tournament, she resigned from the national team.
Coaching career
In 2019 she was the assistant coach of the U-17 women's national team . She has been part of the SC Freiburg coaching team since 2020 and is particularly responsible for standards. From the 2020/21 season she will be the head coach of the SC Freiburg U20 team.

Behringer is a trained office clerk ; until summer 2008 she worked in a printing company in Denzlingen . In 2010 she completed a distance learning course to become a sports specialist.
Behringer got involved in the social project We are helping Africa for the 2010 World Cup . From 2017 to 2018 she was the patron of the girls' tournament of the Merkur Cup .
