history

Today's club was founded on March 10, 1903 as the goal and football club Germania 03 Zehlendorf . In the spring of 1909, FC Hertha 06 Zehlendorf also started playing. In 1911 both clubs merged to form VfB Zehlendorf 03 .

In 1912/1913, 38 VfB members joined the BFC Hertha in 1892 as the Zehlendorf department , which, however, broke away from the BFC in 1914 and re-established it as FC Hertha 06 Zehlendorf . This and VfB Zehlendorf 03 merged in January 1919 to form FC Hertha 03 Zehlendorf, which in turn merged with Union 24 from Lichterfelde in 1940 . This club received as the "Zehlendorfer Ballspiel-Club (Z. BC) Hertha" in 1948 as the first Berlin club after the Second World War a re-admission license from the US military government.

As champions of the Regionalliga Berlin , Hertha took part in the promotion round to the Bundesliga in 1969 and 1970 , but only finished fourth and third in the respective group of five. The stars of the team were, in addition to numerous former Bundesliga players from Hertha BSC, the ex-national player Helmut Faeder , the future national player Uwe “Funkturm” Kliemann and Wolfgang Sühnholz , who was part of the regular team of the FC Bayern champions from 1972. In 1970 the A-Juniors of the German Association also became champions in their class.

After the regional leagues were dissolved in 1974, Hertha did not qualify for the 2nd Bundesliga, which was then still divided into north and south seasons . After four tenth places, Hertha 03 Zehlendorf became champion of the Oberliga Berlin 1978/79 and then failed in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga against OSC Bremerhaven after results of 5: 4 and 0: 1 only due to the away goal rule. Until 1990, Hertha was second in the league four times. In 1998, the club was relegated to the fourth division and after two seasons in the Oberliga Nordost / Nord rose to the fifth division Association League Berlin . After an excursion to the sixth class Berlin league , the club rose again in 2014 to the fifth class Oberliga Nordost .
