The Greifswalder FC is a German football club from Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .
history
The association goes back to the traditional association Greifswalder SC, which was founded in 1911, was forcibly dissolved in 1945 and re-founded in 1990 . This had to file for bankruptcy in 2002 and was dissolved in 2003 after the conclusion of the bankruptcy proceedings; As a result, Greifswalder SV 04 was founded in 2004 . Greifswalder FC was created on July 1, 2015 through the merger of Greifswalder SV 04 with FC Pommern Greifswald , after talks about a merger of the two clubs had already been held before the 2014/15 season. The team of FC Pommern Greifswald was withdrawn from the league, and the entire club was dissolved. The members joined Greifswalder SV 04, which was renamed Greifswalder FC .
Despite the right to start in the Oberliga, the club decided to take the place of Greifswalder SV 04 in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Association League . After two runners-up in a row, Greifswalder FC was promoted to the Oberliga Nordost in the 2017/18 season . In the 2018/19 season , the Greifswalders immediately finished third behind the Berlin clubs SV Lichtenberg 47 and Tennis Borussia .
