Oliver Herber (born September 9, 1981 in Borna ) is a former German soccer player . Oliver Herber is the son of the former senior league keeper at BSG Chemie Böhlen , Klaus Herber .

Career

Herber's career began at Hertha Zehlendorf . About the stations Reinickendorfer Füchse (1999/2000) and Hertha-Amateure (2000-2002) he made the leap into the regional league . After good performance at SV Babelsberg 03 in the 2002/03 season, he was signed by Dynamo Dresden . In his first year, Herber was able to celebrate promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga as a substitute goalkeeper with the Dresden club . In the summer of 2005, he suffered a stroke after a blood clot in his brain . This stroke of fate threw him far back. Almost written off, Oliver Herber fought his way back into the SGD squad in 2006 and subsequently played again for Dynamo Dresden. In the 2006/07 season he fought his way back to the place of the first goalkeeper through strong performances and displaced Tino Berbig from the regular formation. After Herber was a regular goalkeeper in the first half of the 2007/08 season, he seriously injured his left shoulder in a preparatory game against 1. FC Brno in January 2008 and had to take a break for several months. After the 2007/08 season he did not receive a new contract with SG Dynamo Dresden. According to Ralf Minge , then sports director, Herber made too high demands. However, Herber said he was never negotiated. Thus he was without a club at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. He ended his career on September 24, 2009 due to another shoulder injury that would have required another operation. Herber later began studying sport and event management at the University of Applied Sciences in Riesa , where he graduated in business administration and plays in the Eastern Saxon-Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains regional league for ESV Lokomotive Pirna .
