Jerome Julien Kiesewetter (born February 9, 1993 in Berlin ) is a German - American soccer player who has been under contract with Inter Miami since January 2020 .

Career

Hertha BSC

At the age of 14 years Kiesewetter changed, son of an African-American father and a German mother, Hertha Zehlendorf in the youth academy of Hertha BSC . In June 2007 Kiesewetter signed a contract with the Hertha amateurs. At the start of training in January 2012, Michael Skibbe accepted him into the professional squad and took part in the professional training camp. Kiesewetter reached the final of the DFB Junior Club Cup 2011/12 and the final of the German A Junior Championship 2012 with the U-19 from Hertha BSC . He also made 17 appearances in the Regionalliga Nord with Hertha’s second team in the 2011/12 regional league season, scoring two goals.

VfB Stuttgart

On May 16, 2012, Kiesewetter signed a four-year contract with VfB Stuttgart . There he was first assigned to the squad of the second team . On September 25, 2012, he made his debut for VfB Stuttgart II on the 11th matchday in the 3rd football league of the 2012/13 season in the game against Hansa Rostock .

In January 2014 Kiesewetter returned to the U-23 from Hertha BSC on loan until the end of the season.

In the summer break of 2014 he returned to Stuttgart and was also part of the third division squad of VfB reserves in the 2014/15 season . On March 6, 2015, Kiesewetter made his Bundesliga debut with the first team of VfB Stuttgart in the game against Hertha BSC in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart .

Fortuna Dusseldorf

For the 2016/17 season , the second division Fortuna Düsseldorf signed Kiesewetter with a two-year contract. In his first season he completed 18 league games (5 from the start) under Friedhelm Funkel , in which he scored 2 goals. In the 2017/18 season , only 3 missions followed (2 times from the beginning). After promotion to the Bundesliga , Kiesewetter left the club when his contract ended and has been without a club ever since.

Change to the USA

In April 2019, Kiesewetter moved to the USA and joined the second-rate USL Championship El Paso Locomotive . For the new franchise from El Paso , Texas , he completed 25 appearances (23 times from the start) in the regular season, in which he scored 12 goals. In the play-offs , in which they were eliminated against the Real Monarchs , 3 more inserts followed.

For the 2020 season, Kiesewetter switched to Major League Soccer for the new Inter Miami franchise .

National team

For an international tournament in Peru in September 2010, Kiesewetter was appointed to the US U-20 national team for the first time . On September 6, 2010 Jerome Kiesewetter made his debut in this tournament for the U-20s of the United States of America against Paraguay. Two days later he was in the starting XI of the US U-20s for the first time against Colombia. In May 2011 Kiesewetter completed two more U-20 internationals against France.

For the Milk Cup , Jerome Kiesewetter was appointed to the U-18 selection of the United States in July 2011 . In the first game of the US U-18s in this tournament, Kiesewetter met Israel in stoppage time to make it 2-0. After he had also been used in the second tournament game in the tie against Mexico, Kiesewetter scored his second tournament goal for the United States U-18s in the 2-1 win against Georgia in the third place match.

For a training camp in Duisburg, Jerome Kiesewetter was nominated for the first time for the U-23 national team of the USA in November 2011 . When he made his U-23 debut for the USA on November 11, 2011 against Azerbaijan in the starting eleven, Kieswetter was only substituted in the 82nd minute of the game. In October 2012 he was used for the US U-20 national team at the Marbella Cup in two games.

On January 31, 2016 Kiesewetter made his debut for the United States senior team against Iceland .
