Djurgården Damfotboll is a women's football club from the Swedish capital Stockholm . The venue is Kristineberg's IP .
history
Älvsjö AIK was the more successful club before the merger. Älvsjö has been part of the class since Damallsvenskan was founded, while Djurgårdens IF only made it up in 1996. In the mid-1990s , Älvsjö dominated the league and won five championships in a row. In 1996 and 1999 Älvsjö even made the double . In 1999 and 2000, Älvsjö and Djurgårdens faced each other in the cup final . The first time Älvsjö won by golden goal, the second time Djurgårdens took his first title.
In the very first season after the merger, the new club dethroned the defending champion Umeå IK . In 2004 they won the double. In May 2005, the club reached the finals in the UEFA Women's Cup against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . Both games were lost (0: 2; 1: 3), Potsdam won the cup. In February 2007 the club was renamed Djurgården Damfotboll, as Älvsjö AIK rose again as an independent club in the Norretan , the second highest division.
In the 2007 season, Ariane Hingst was the first German player to wear the Djurgården jersey. On January 1, 2008 she was followed by Nadine Angerer and Jennifer Meier . Anders Johansson has been the new coach since January 1st, 2008. In the winter break of the 2008/09 season, Ariane Hingst and Nadine Angerer moved back to Germany for 1. FFC Frankfurt .
The club played the majority of the games until October 2012 in the 2,000-seat Kristinebergs IP . With the membership of the Elitettan , the team plays its home games in Östermalms IP , which has around 200 seats .
