The Elitettan is the second highest division in Swedish women's football . It started playing in 2013 and replaced the double-track Division 1 as the previous second-highest division. Reigning Master is Umeå IK .
mode
The fourteen teams meet each other twice in the first and second leg during the season (April to October). Masters and runners-up are promoted to Damallsvenskan , the last three clubs relegated to Division 1.
Founding participant
The two relegated teams from Damallsvenskan 2012 ( Djurgården Damfotboll , AIK Solna ), the two losers of the promotion playoffs to Damallsvenskan 2013 ( QBIK Karlstad , IK Sirius ), the teams placed third to sixth in Division 1 qualified for the 2013 premiere season of Elitettan ( Eskilstuna United , Hammarby IF , IFK Kalmar , Kvarnsvedens IK , IF Limhamn Bunkeflo , Östers IF , Sundsvalls DFF , Umeå Södra FF ), the winner of the playoffs of the two seventh place winners of both seasons of Division 1 ( Hovås Billdal IF ), as well as the only " real “climbers Älta IF from the third division 2.
