The IS Halmia is a Swedish football club from Halmstad in Halland . The club played for the first time in the Allsvenskan in 1932, as the first club from Halland. Today the men's team plays in the third division Division 1 Södra .
history
The club went through many ups and downs in its history. The highlights include the 11 seasons that the club spent in the top Swedish league , the Allsvenskan. The club rose for the first time in 1932, but was relegated again in 1934.
The next promotion was made in 1943 and this time the club was able to assert itself in the Allsvenskan for 7 years (until 1950), the longest time in the club's history. Because after relegation in 1950 IS Halmia could only play two more times in the Allsvenskan. This was initially in 1963, after winning 3-0 in a qualifying game against Landskrona BoIS in 1962 . At this game, the club set a visitor record with 20,381 spectators in the home stadium Örjans vall , which could never be broken even by the city's arch-rival Halmstads BK . The last time IS Halmia was in Allsvenskan in 1979.
After relegation from the second division in 1985 and the march through to the fourth division in 1989, IS Halmia briefly disappeared into the lower division. In 1994 they returned to the third division, where the team was runner-up in 1997. In the subsequent promotion games, the team prevailed against Trollhättans FK and Nybro IF . As the bottom of the table in the southern season, the team rose again directly and was passed through to fourth division in the following year. In 2005 the club fell victim to a league reform and crashed into the fifth division. Several times, the team narrowly missed the rise, which was achieved in 2008 as the season winner.
Thanks to the 11 seasons in the Allsvenskan, the club is at least 27th in the all-time table of this division (as of 2005). In the all-time table of the Superettan (2nd division), where the club spent 44 seasons, the club is ranked 8th.
