Alexandra "Alex" Singer (born November 18, 1987 in New York City , New York ) is an American football player . The defender has been under contract with the Norwegian first division club Avaldsnes IL since summer 2015 .
Career
Singer was born in New York City and grew up in Rye . She attended Rye High School for five years and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia a short time later .
In 2006 she started her professional career in the WPSL and became a champion in the first year. In 2007 she moved to the W-League club Washington Freedom and became champion with her club in 2007. In 2009 and 2010 she played for the Washington Freedom team in the US professional league Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), for which she played twenty times. During the break of the season, she played in the Australian W-League for Perth Glory . In January 2011 she moved to the Swedish Damallsvenskan to Dalsjöfors GoIF . The team that had just been promoted to the top division had to be relegated as the bottom of the table.
In January 2012 she signed a contract with the Bundesliga club Turbine Potsdam. With Turbine she won the German championship in 2012. After the end of the 2013/14 season, she moved to the Washington Spirit franchise in the National Women's Soccer League . There she was released on June 17, 2015 after a total of 16 league appearances and subsequently moved to the Norwegian first division club Avaldsnes IL .
