history

The association was founded in 1934. In addition to football, the club also offers cycling and gymnastics .

The most successful division of Fortuna are the female soccer players who were promoted to the fourth-class Lower Saxony league in 2008. In 2012, the team was runner-up behind the second team of VfL Wolfsburg and lost in the final of the Lower Saxony Cup against the same team with 1: 2 on penalties . Also in 2012, Merle Frohms became European champion with the U-17 national team . Since the Wolfsburg were not eligible, Fortuna qualified for the DFB Cup, where the team lost 8-0 to Bundesliga club FSV Gütersloh 2009 in the first round . In the 2012/13 season, the Cellerinnen secured the championship of the eastern season and, after a 3-2 win in the final of the Lower Saxony championship in neutral Barsinghausen against the second team of SV Meppen, they made it to the regional league. Lisa Zimmermann scored all three goals of her team. In 2018 Fortuna was relegated and voluntarily went down to the district league. A year later, Fortuna became champions there and was promoted to the Lüneburg regional league.

The first men's team has been playing in the 2nd district class Celle since relegation in 2019.
