Nabil Bahoui (born February 5, 1991 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player of Moroccan descent. The offensive player was last under contract with Grasshopper Club Zurich from July 2017 to the beginning of 2019 .

Career

Bahoui played in his youth at Mälarhöjdens IK , IK Tellus and Hammarby IF . In 2003 he joined the youth department of IF Brommapojkarna , where he subsequently went through the individual youth teams. In 2008 he joined the expanded squad of the competition team and made his debut as a substitute in the second-rate Superettan that same year when the team rose to the Allsvenskan . As a supplementary player, he was used irregularly in the following two seasons, but was temporarily on for cooperation partner Gröndals IK . In the summer of 2010, he therefore moved on loan to Väsby United in the Superettan. Despite his use in eight games, the team rose at the end of the season in the third division, but at the same time IF Brommapojkarna was relegated from the Allsvenskan. Initially, in the 2011 second division season , he was only second choice for long stretches and played 13 league games, and he also worked for the new cooperation partner Akropolis IF . The following season he made the breakthrough. Together with Pablo Piñones-Arce , he formed the club's storm duo and placed among the top five goalscorers in the league with 15 goals this season. The team coached by Roberth Björknesjö returned to the House of Lords at the end of the season.

Shortly after the end of the season, the first division club signed AIK Bahoui, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract there. There he was a regular player under coach Andreas Alm , although he was substituted twelve times in 29 league games in his first season. Nevertheless, he developed into a senior international in his first year in the top division of Sweden and made his debut in January 2014 in a 2-1 victory over Moldova in Abu Dhabi in the jersey of the Swedish national team , which was composed primarily of players from Northern European leagues. Over the course of the year he was one of the few Allsvenskan players in the national team and played a total of six international matches , including games in qualifying for the 2016 European Championship . In the meantime, he was in the race for the championship with his club for a long time, ultimately taking third place in the table with AIK, ten points behind master Malmö FF . With 14 goals this season, he played a key role in the success of Henok Goitom, who was successful twelve times , and placed fifth on the championship's list of goalscorers.

In the summer of 2015, Bahoui moved to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli Jeddah . Half a year and ten games in the Saudi Premier League later, he returned to Europe shortly before the end of the winter transfer period and signed a contract with the German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV until June 30, 2018. Bahoui played his first Bundesliga game in a 2-0 home win against Hertha BSC (25th matchday) when he came on for Nicolai Müller in the 88th minute . At the beginning of May 2017 Bahoui was deleted from the first team's squad together with Johan Djourou and Ashton Götz . The reasons given by coach Markus Gisdol were to want to reduce the training squad for the last three match days in order to keep the league. The players were offered the opportunity to train with the second team or a private coach. In the 2016/17 season , Bahoui had previously played in the Bundesliga under Gisdol's predecessor, Bruno Labbadia, as well as in the Regionalliga Nord with the second team.

In July 2017 Bahoui moved to the Swiss Super League at Grasshopper Club Zurich , where he received a contract until June 30, 2020. A few days after his engagement, he made his debut in the Swiss championship under coach Carlos Bernegger , but was unable to establish himself permanently in the starting lineup under him or his successor Murat Yakin . He then returned to Allsvenskan on loan to AIK at the end of February 2018, and the two clubs agreed a purchase option when the loan period expired in the summer. In Sweden he was one of the regulars, in eleven league games at the beginning of the 2018 season , he contributed to the establishment at the top of the table. Nevertheless, AIK decided not to exercise the option, so the player returned to Switzerland in the middle of the summer season.

The contract with the Grasshopper Club Zurich was terminated in January 2019 by mutual agreement.
