The Gröndals Idrottsklubb is a Swedish sports club from the Stockholm district of Hägersten-Liljeholmen . He is best known for his soccer team , which at times competed in the third division .

history

Gröndals IF was founded on December 16, 1928 . In addition to football and bandy , there was also a handball department for a short time . A few years later, Grondals AIS was founded as a local competitor . In 1937 the two clubs merged and the new club gave itself the name that is still current today.

In 1953, the Gröndals IK soccer team was able to attract national attention for the first time when the third-class division 3 Östra Svealand was reached. The direct march into the second division was missed as third in the table behind Södertälje SK and Katrineholms AIK . The club was unable to build on the surprise success from the premiere season in the following years. In 1957 he was relegated again and was passed through to fifth division in the following season.

In 1961, Grondals IK returned to the fourth division. Apart from a brief interlude in the fifth division in 1965, the club was able to establish itself in the fourth division and belonged to the division until relegated in 1977. After four years in the regional league area, he was promoted to the fourth division before the 1981 season, from which one had to relegate again after two seasons. The direct resurgence was followed by the championship in Division 4 Stockholm Södra and thus, after more than 25 years, the return to the third division.

Gröndals IK, however, missed relegation in Division 3 Östra Svealand as the table penultimate . After a sixth place in the following season, the team fell victim to a league reform in 1986 and came to the now fifth-class Division 4 Stockholm Södra . After the immediate promotion to the fourth division, the club had to leave the league again in 1991.

After several years in the fifth level, Grondals IK reported back in 2001 as the season winner of Division 4 Stockholm Mellersta in fourth division. There the team was able to establish itself and qualified in 2005 as part of a new league reform as runner-up for the fourth-class Division 2 Östra Svealand . There the club succeeded in winning the relay, so that the team could return to the third division in 2007. There she sat down in the middle of the table before the team withdrew from the league after the end of the third division season in 2010 due to economic problems. Then she joined forces with the eight division club BK Carmen and disappeared from the higher-class league area.
