Career

As a child, Schmidt played at SpVgg Olympia Kassel , OSC Vellmar and Rot-Weiß Erfurt , before moving to the C-youth team at SV Werder Bremen in 2012 . At first he was a striker and then moved to midfield. In the B youth he came to several missions in the German junior national teams. He also took part in the 2015 U-17 European Football Championship . He reached the semi-finals of the German championship with the Bremen A youth team and was an important player in the team along with Johannes Eggestein .

In July 2016, Schmidt received a professional contract. First he was in the U-23 team from Bremen, trained by Alexander Nouri , in the 3rd division . When Nouri became the interim coach of the Bundesliga team, Schmidt was in the Bundesliga squad for the first time in the game against VfL Wolfsburg on September 24, 2016, came on for Clemens Fritz in the 76th minute and prepared the winning goal with a corner kick to make it 2-1.

At the beginning of the summer preparation 2018, Schmidt was removed from the first team's squad by Florian Kohfeldt and permanently transferred to the second team. He then completed a trial training at the second division Holstein Kiel , but was not committed. On July 24, 2018, Schmidt moved to the third division for SV Wehen Wiesbaden on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season . There he quickly developed into a regular player and best assists in the Hessen, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd division .

After the loan contract ended, Werder extended the contract with the offensive player in summer 2019 and then agreed a two-year loan deal with VfL Osnabrück , which had also been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
