Club career
Nemec began his career in Žarnovica and later played for ZTS Dubnica . At the age of 18 he came to MŠK Žilina in July 2004 and was an immediate regular in 2004/05. In the following season (2005/06) he came due to an injury to only 13 appearances in the Corgoň liga , the highest Slovak football league. In the 2006/07 season he was instrumental in winning the Slovak championship for Žilina with 13 goals in 21 games. Adam Nemec played in the first two games of the first qualifying round of the 2007/08 Champions League against F91 Dudelange (2: 1 and 5: 4).
On August 3, 2007, FC Erzgebirge Aue loaned Adam Nemec from MŠK Žilina for one year with a purchase option . However, this could not be drawn after the relegation of the Erzgebirge to the new 3rd division . In the summer of 2008, the attacker signed a four-year contract with the Belgian KRC Genk . There he mostly came on short assignments.
In the summer of 2009, Nemec moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern , who signed him for three years. In the 2nd Bundesliga he was mostly part of the starting line-up for the Palatinate and with five goals this season he contributed to promotion to the 1st Bundesliga.
After Nemec had terminated his contract in Kaiserslautern, he was signed on January 27, 2012 by second division club FC Ingolstadt 04 , for whom he made his debut on February 4, 2012 under coach Tomas Oral in the game against Fortuna Düsseldorf and in the following period also regularly for the FCI was used. On May 11, 2012, the Ingolstadt-based company announced that Nemec's expiring contract would not be extended and that he would therefore have to leave the club.
On July 24, 2012, 1. FC Union Berlin announced the commitment of Nemec with a contract term of two years. Since he “did not meet the expectations”, he received approval at the end of the 2013/14 season, but was taken back to the squad after a coach change .
In January 2015, Nemec moved to New York City FC , with whom he played in Major League Soccer . There he made his debut on March 8, 2015 in the game against Orlando City . In the following games, Nemec was always on the team's starting line-up. In early May he suffered a torn hamstring and had to sit out two games. Since the end of July he has not been part of the MLS franchise and his contract has not been extended.
On August 31, 2015, he moved to the Dutch first division club Willem II Tilburg . With Willem II he played against relegation in the 2015/16 season and secures with his team that he will remain in the relegation class. He was then without engagement for two months before he joined Dinamo Bucharest in September 2016 . Almost two seasons later, Paphos FC signed him in Cyprus . In the 2018/19 season he was the top scorer in the First Division .
