Henri Isliker
Henri Charles Isliker (born April 7, 1922 in Geneva , † August 1, 2007 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss immunologist , lecturer at the University of Lausanne and director of various medical research institutes.
Life
He first studied chemistry, physics and physiology at the University of Bern . After receiving his PhD in biochemistry in 1950, he worked at Harvard Medical School for five years . After his return from the United States, Isliker became a private lecturer at the University of Bern (1957) and a lecturer at the University of Neuchâtel . However, the immunologist spent most of his career in Lausanne, where he was associate professor from 1958 to 1965 and full professor from 1965 to 1988.
However, Isliker was not only a researcher, but also a successful director of scientific institutes. In addition to the Biochemical Institute of the University of Lausanne (1962–1988), he also chaired the Lausanne Training Center of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (Lausanne branch). In addition, Isliker was director of the Center Anticancéreux Romand from 1963 and, after its transfer to the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC) , on June 18, 1964, head of this center. He led the ISREC until 1977.

Isliker was also an honorary member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) .
