Norbert Düwel (born January 5, 1968 in Altötting ) is a former German football player , today's coach and author .
Career
Beginnings
Düwel played as an amateur in the Bayernliga for Türk Gücü Munich and Wacker Burghausen . He began his coaching career in the 2006/07 season at TSV Graefelfing . In 2007, Düwel acquired the UEFA Pro license from the Swiss Football Association and graduated as the best of his year. After five defeats in a row in the 2007/08 season, Düwel ended his engagement in Graefelfing. This was followed by internships at Ajax Amsterdam , FC Basel , Bayern Munich , Schalke 04 , Inter Milan and Manchester United . In 2008 and 2009, Düwel worked for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, initially in international scouting and then as an opponent analyst for Champions League games. In the summer of 2010, Düwel became Mirko Slomka's co-trainer at Hannover 96 and was responsible for training management for three years. In the summer of 2013 he ended his engagement with Lower Saxony at his own request in order to work as head coach in the future. From 2007 to 2009 he was also the coach of the German national student team.
From 2005 to 2010 he was a sports lecturer for soccer at the Technical University of Munich . During this time he headed the university sports department for ball sports and games at the ZHS Munich .
1. FC Union Berlin
For the 2014/15 season , Düwel took over the post of head coach at 1. FC Union Berlin . In his debut season he led the team to 7th place in the table with an average point yield of 1.38 points per game after a difficult initial phase. Like his predecessor Uwe Neuhaus , Düwel should not succeed in advancing the team in the DFB Cup , as they were eliminated in the first round. This should not change at the beginning of the following season. After another elimination in the first round of the cup and only four points from five league games, Düwel's three-year engagement with the Berliners ended. On August 31, 2015, the club separated from him after they had drawn a home game against league favorites RB Leipzig shortly before .
