Detlev Dammeier (born October 18, 1968 in Stadthagen ) is a former German football player . From March 20, 2008 to March 30, 2010 he was under contract as a manager at Arminia Bielefeld .
Career
Career as a player
Born and raised in the Schaumburger Land , Dammeier began his professional career in 1986 at Hannover 96 . From 1989 to 1992 he played for Hamburger SV . In 1992 he moved to VfL Wolfsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga and rose to Wolfsburg in 1997 before moving to Arminia Bielefeld in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000 . With Arminia he rose to the 1st Bundesliga in 2002 and 2004 .
At the end of the 2005/2006 season, Dammeier ended his career as an active player. In order to give his almost 20-year professional career a worthy end, a farewell / charity game was held in his honor on May 19, 2006 in the SchücoArena . The current professional team of Arminia Bielefeld met a team selected by Detlev Dammeier ("Dammi & Friends"), which Dammeiers team won 6: 5.
Dammeier completed over 500 first and second division games. His position was the defensive midfield.
Career after active time
From November 10, 2007 Dammeier trained Arminia Bielefeld's second team until the end of the season. For this job, Dammeier successfully completed the 14-day training course for the Trainer B license . On December 10, 2007, after the dismissal of Ernst Middendorp , he became interim coach of Arminia, whom he only looked after in the last first round match against VfB Stuttgart (2-0); after the game Michael Frontzeck was introduced as the new head coach.
On March 20, 2008 Detlev Dammeier became the new sports director for Arminia Bielefeld and thus successor to Reinhard Saftig , from whom the club had previously separated. Dammeier signed a contract until the end of June 2009. Until the end of the season he will also hold the post of coach of Arminia Bielefeld's second team. During the winter break of the 2008/09 season , the club announced that the contract with Detlev Dammeier had been extended to June 30, 2011. On March 30, 2010, Arminia Bielefeld announced that Dammeier had been released from his duties.
From September 2011 to summer 2013 Dammeier coached the national league team Spvg Steinhagen . In the summer of 2013 Detlev Dammeier was a scout at RB Leipzig, where he was primarily responsible for analyzing opponents. On February 17, 2014, Preußen Münster announced that Dammeier will take over the sporting management of the club. After a controversial interview, Dammeier had to vacate the post on March 31. From July 1 to October 2, 2017, Dammeier coached the Lupo Martini Wolfsburg club from the Lower Saxony Oberliga . For the 2018/19 season, Dammeier took over the coaching position at the Westphalian league club Delbrücker SC .
Private
Detlev Dammeier is married and has three daughters. He completed an apprenticeship as a banker . Since December 2009 he has been the official sponsor of the Bethel Children's Hospice for dying children.
