Bethel Children's Hospice

The Bethel Children's Hospice is an institution of the v. Bodelschwing Foundation Bethel in Bielefeld . It offers space for a total of ten life-shortening children and adolescents.

history

After a year and a half of planning and preparation, the foundation stone was laid on November 10, 2011. The children's and youth hospice was opened in May 2012.

House

The children's hospice is located in the middle of the countryside on the edge of Bethel. Of the ten rooms, eight were set up as children's rooms and two as youth rooms. Two rooms are tailored to the special needs of continuously ventilated children who are dependent on intensive and technically demanding care around the clock. The close cooperation with the Bethel Children's Hospital guarantees optimal palliative medical care for the children. In addition to the care and support area, there is also a separate living area for parents and siblings.

Partnerships and collaborations

The Children's Hospice Bethel works closely with various institutions in Bethel and throughout Germany that are actively involved in hospice work and palliative medical care. These include a. the Working Group on Specialized Outpatient Palliative Care, the Bundesverband Kinderhospiz eV and the palliative project "The Way Home ". The intensive exchange is intended to ensure and further promote the palliative medical care that has only recently been anchored in law.

financing

The construction costs were financed entirely by donations from the Friends and Patrons of Bethel. One million euros in donations are required each year to finance ongoing operations. The hospice is also accompanied by numerous celebrities as "godparents".
