The DJK Delbrück (officially: Deutsche Jugendkraft Graf Sporck 1920 eV Delbrück ) is a sports club from Delbrück in the Paderborn district . The first men's volleyball team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North from 2008 to 2019 .

history

The association was founded in 1920 and belonged to the Catholic German Youth Force . It is named after Johann von Sporck , who was born in nearby Westerloh in 1600 and later rose to become general of the cavalry . In addition to volleyball, the club also offers badminton , basketball , boules , popular sports , children's and youth gymnastics , rehab sports , swimming , table tennis and dodgeball . Today the DJK Delbrück has around 2,000 members. In the early years of the DJK there was also a football department , which split off in 1925 as BV Delbrück . This became Delbrücker SC in 1950 .

The volleyball department was founded in 1973 and joined the West German Volleyball Association a year later. In 1989 the Delbrückers rose to the regional league, before the team had to relegate two years later. In 2000 the Delbrückers had to relegate to the association league because the club did not meet its referee target. After the direct resurgence, the DJK returned to the regional league in 2004 and four years later made it to the 2nd Bundesliga North. With eighth place in the 2008/09 promotion season, the team achieved their best ranking so far. In 2013 the DJK won the West German Cup. A year later , the Delbrückers were the penultimate athlete relegated, but remained second class due to the voluntary withdrawal of the Rumelner TV . In the 2018/19 season , the volleyball players came last and were relegated to the 3rd division.
