Westerloh is a former municipality in the Office Delbrück the circle Paderborn and consisted of the three districts Lippling , Schoening and Steinhorst . In 2012 there were a little less than 4200 inhabitants on the territory of the former municipality.

On January 1, 1975, Westerloh became the new one in accordance with Section 23 of the Sauerland / Paderborn Act with the municipalities of Delbrück, Hagen , Ostenland and Westenholz of the Delbrück office and with the municipalities of Anreppen , Bentfeld and Boke of the Salzkotten-Boke office ( Büren district ) unofficial city of Delbrück merged. Since then, the three previous districts of this municipality have been equal districts alongside the seven others in the new city of Delbrück.

The origin of the name Westerloh is explained regionally as follows: the first settlers used to settle on the western edge of the forest, the word Loh stands for a large forest area or clearing. So Westerloh means west of the forest.
