Steinhorst is a district of the East Westphalian town of Delbrück in the Paderborn district . Steinhorst, about 8 km² in size, is located in the north of Delbrück and with 789 inhabitants is the smallest district in Delbrück.

As a district of the municipality of Westerloh , Steinhorst came to the city of Delbrück on January 1, 1975 as part of the municipality and district reform in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Attractions

Along the Ems , on the border with the Gütersloh district , the largest artificially created biotope in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Steinhorst Basin , was created in the north-west of Steinhorst in 1991 . This area, originally conceived as a flood protection measure, has been designated a nature reserve and is one of the most important resting places for migratory birds in East Westphalia .
