Schöning is a small village in the Paderborn district that belongs to the city of Delbrück . 1517 people live there.

The village lies in a landscape characterized by agriculture , especially poultry and asparagus cultivation , south of the Ems, which is still young here .

history

The farmer's son and later Count Johann Sporck was born on the Sporckhof in Schöning, probably in 1595. Johann Graf von Sporck served in the Thirty Years War . Emperor Leopold I appointed him commander in chief of the imperial cavalry in 1664 and elevated him to the rank of imperial count. Count von Sporck died in 1679 on the Hermannstädtel estate in Bohemia. The Delbrück secondary school bears his name.

Schöning used to belong to the municipality of Westerloh together with the neighboring villages of Lippling and Steinhorst . With the regional reform, which came into force on January 1, 1975, they became districts of Delbrück .
