investment

Nadermann Zoo was founded in 1967 and has been family-owned ever since. Once created on the site of an old farm, the park grew steadily in the following years and today forms an area of eight hectares. The facility, which is directly adjacent to the Rietberger Emsniederung nature reserve, can be viewed via a circular route. In recent years there have been extensive investments in the construction of new, modern animal enclosures; today, many of the animals that live in the zoo can be seen in outdoor enclosures .

Animals

The zoo is staffed with around 600 animals from around 100 species. Predators are one of the main focuses of the animal population, including cheetahs , lions , leopards , jaguars and ocelots . Other species kept in outdoor enclosures are dromedaries , llamas , trample , alpacas and various breeds of goats .

Also worth mentioning are a natural-looking outdoor enclosure for long-tailed macaques as well as various large aviaries that are home to various species of birds of prey such as vultures and owls . A reindeer enclosure can be driven through by means of a train .

The zoo is closed from November to March.
