Karl Dennis Dodd (born November 13, 1980 in Southport ) is an Australian football player .
Career
After a few years in the regional national leagues of Australia, the defender made the leap to the Brisbane Strikers in the National Soccer League in 2003 , which was discontinued a year later. After founding the A-League , he received a contract with Queensland Roar , which he left after a sporting disappointing season in December 2005 to join the Romanian second division club FC Universitatea Craiova . After a few months, his contract with Craiova was canceled because he had fallen out with the coach. With the Scottish club FC Falkirk he signed a short-term contract until the end of the season in March 2006 and then a new one-year contract for the 2006/07 season.
In the summer of 2007 he returned to the A-League and signed a two-year contract with the newly established New Zealand representative Wellington Phoenix . The officials of Wellington Phoenix decided in April 2009 against a contract extension and Dodd played a few games for Sydney United in the New South Wales Premier League . At the end of July, the newly formed A-League team North Queensland Fury secured the services of Dodds. After he was on the starting line-up in central defense for the first seven match days, he suffered a knee injury in September 2009 that kept him away from the action for eight weeks. In his comeback in late November against the Central Coast Mariners , he was substituted in the 1: 5 defeat after an hour and was subsequently not taken into account by coach Ian Ferguson , who instead relied on Matt Smith . In the further course of the season, Dodd suffered another knee injury and fell out until the end of the season, when he did not receive a new contract with North Queensland.
He only found a new club in Hong Kong in September 2011 with the first division club TSW Pegasus .
