Novemberkåsan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Novemberkåsan (German: Novembertasse ) is one of the oldest and largest motorcycle competitions in Sweden. The race has been taking place since 1915; the competition was only suspended during the Second World War and when the traffic was switched to the right-hand drive in 1967. In 1995 the competition could not take place due to a snow storm and was postponed to December. Over the years, the reliability drive with day and night tests has developed into an extreme enduro competition . The total distance was around 700 km in the 1930s, and is currently around 300 km.

The winner is determined annually, but the trophy is only given to the driver after the third victory. Twelve trophies have been awarded to ten drivers so far, Gunnar Kalén (1928 and 1933) and Svenerik Jönsson (1985 and 1991) are the drivers who have won the trophy twice.
