history

Since the early Middle Ages, the area of Benhausen has belonged to the later Hochstift Paderborn .

In 1802 the Paderborn bishopric lost its state independence when it was occupied by Prussia , but fell back to the Kingdom of Westphalia for a few years in 1807 and to Prussia in 1813 after the Napoleonic defeat. Benhausen is incorporated into the province of Westphalia , which was founded in 1815, and by decree of the royal government in Minden it comes to the Paderborn district, which was founded in 1816 . When the districts are divided into offices , Benhausen comes to the office of Lippspringe.

In 1921, Lippspringe was released from the administrative division and the previous official seat moved to Altenbeken. As a result, the office concerned was initially given the name “Amt Lippspringe with its seat in Altenbeken” and later the name “Amt Altenbeken”.

On January 1, 1975, Benhausen became a district of Paderborn.

traffic

Benhausen is on the state roads L755 in a west-east direction between Paderborn core city in the west and the Paderborn district of Neuenbeken towards Altenbeken in the east and in north-south direction via the L937 between Schlangen and Bad Lippspringe in the north to the B64 in the south to the outlying areas Transport connected. A special feature is the Benser bow of the Hamm – Warburg railway line between Paderborn main station and the Altenbeken railway junction , which crosses the L755 twice and the L937 in the north once outside of the built-up area and thereby curves around the town. With rail traffic, Benhausen could therefore only be reached quickly from the south in emergencies and rescue operations. For decades there was a struggle to re-route and "straighten" the railway line. Since no funds have been made available for this, a tunnel under the railway line will be built in the west from 2016 so that the site can also be reached more easily in emergencies after the planned completion. Benhausen does not have its own train stop.

In public transport , Benhausen is included in the network traffic of the PaderSprinter and the BahnBus Hochstift .
