Buke is a at the foot of the Egge Mountains at about 310  m above sea level. NN located village and district of the municipality Altenbeken in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia . Buke has the postal code 33184 and about 2500 inhabitants.

history

Buke can look back on 1000 years of history, and it owes its origins and history to the encounter with the Christian faith. Since the Carolingian era in the 9th and 10th centuries, the Frankish martyr and national saint Dionysius has been venerated as the patron of the community.

The oldest post office on the way from Paderborn to Hanover was built in Buke in January 1663.

Buke has belonged to the secular rule of the German diocese Paderborn , originally in the duchy of Saxony , since it was founded . From the 14th century, the territory of the prince-bishopric of Paderborn ( Hochstift ) was formed in the Holy Roman Empire , and from the 16th century it became part of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian Empire . In 1802/03 the bishopric was occupied by the Kingdom of Prussia . In Napoleonic times the place was part of the Kingdom of Westphalia . From 1815 Buke belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia, from 1871 it was part of the German Empire . Buke was largely spared direct war damage from World War II . 1945–1949 Buke was part of the British zone of occupation , from 1946 governed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and since 1949 also by the Federal Republic of Germany .

As part of the municipal reorganization, Buke was merged with Altenbeken and Schwaney on January 1, 1975 by the Sauerland / Paderborn Act to form the new municipality of Altenbeken.

The B 64 runs through Buke in an east-west direction. The state road 828 (L 828) runs from Detmold via Altenbeken to the A 44 in a north-south direction .

rail

Buke is on the Hamm – Warburg railway line . However, there is currently no scheduled train stopping at Buke station . The station was shut down a long time ago and is no longer owned by the railway.
