Dörenhagen is the easternmost of the five districts of the Borchen municipality in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia . The old postcode of Dörenhagen is 4799 (formerly 4791) and now 33178.

geography

Dörenhagen is located on the Paderborn plateau southeast of Paderborn . There are no surface rivers in the district, which is part of a karst landscape . The subsoil is formed by water-permeable limestones of the Turon , which lie above limestones of the Cenomaniac , under which there is a layer of Eggesandstone.

Dörenhagen lies at an altitude of 296 m above sea level. NN and covers an area of ​​15.95 km². The highest point in Borchen at 334 m above sea level. NN is to the east of Dörenhagen.

In the north the Paderborn districts of Paderborn and Dahl border , in the east and south the Lichtenau districts of Grundsteinheim and Ebbinghausen. In the west lies the parish of Kirchborchen with its hamlet of Hamborn Castle .

Milestone on the B 68

The town's landmark is the old parish church of Sankt Meinolf, built around 1220 as a fortified church, the first parish church in Dörenhagen, with early Gothic tracery windows, late medieval frescoes and baroque furnishings.

About two kilometers west of the town center is the chapel of the hilligen soul, an ancient pilgrimage destination for the veneration of the holy cross . Its vaulted rectangular choir is essentially Romanesque, the square nave with flat ceiling from the 17th century.

There is an old milestone on the northern outskirts of the village on the main road towards Paderborn. In the smallest district of Busch there is a historic belfry.

Coming from Paderborn , the B 68 runs through the north-eastern edge of the district via Lichtenau to Warburg.

District road 1 connects Dörenhagen with the Paderborn district of Dahl, 3 kilometers to the north, and the Lichtenau districts of Ebbinghausen and Atteln to the south, and district road 2 with Kirchborchen, 8 kilometers to the west, where the Borchen municipal administration is located.

Wind power

There are numerous wind turbines in several concentration zones in the Dörenhagen district. In the north-west in the Haxtergrund zone 20 systems, in "Dörenhagen Ost" another 15 systems. Together with plants in Etteln and the neighboring communities, Dörenhagen is thus almost completely enclosed by wind turbines except for a visual corridor to the east. In the districts of Dörenhagen and Etteln there are strong citizens' initiatives against the further encirclement of the districts and higher minimum distances to residential developments.

Dörenhagen has a community center that is used for events. The Dörenhagen volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help in this area. Since December 2001, the Catholic public library has been located next to the community center with currently over 4,000 media units.

In Dörenhagen there is a kindergarten and a single primary school that works according to the Montessori pedagogy .
