Westerloh is 7 kilometers north of the town of Haselünne and has been part of it since 1974. The brooks Riehe and Radde separate Westerloh from Klein Berßen and Hülsen.
history
The region is characterized by numerous megalithic relics of the Beaker culture the passage graves with the Sprockhoff no. 863 stone grave of Herthum and 864 stone grave Westerloh I labeled. Westerloh appeared for the first time in documents in 1150.
On March 1, 1974, Westerloh was incorporated into the town of Haselünne.
Origin of name
The first settlers settled on the western edge of the forest between today's Westerloh and Lähden . The ancient word "Loh" describes a forest area or large clearings , often made by humans . Hence the name "Westerloh".
