Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter

The Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter is a 2004 accessory for the Game Boy Advance from Nintendo . It allows up to 5 players to play together over a wireless connection. The module has the model number AGB-015 and can be used with the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP and the Game Boy Player for the Nintendo GameCube . According to the manufacturer, the range of the module is up to 3 meters. An extra wireless module is required for the Game Boy Micro , as it does not have the standard link port of the GBA family. Technically, however, both are the same.

Compatible games

Because the wireless adapter came out late in the Game Boy Advance's lifecycle, there are few games that support it. Compatible games are indicated by an icon that says Wireless Adapter Compatible . In Mario Golf: Advance Tour and multiplayer enabled NES Classics missing this label, even if they are compatible. The wireless adapter is supported by Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green , among others .

Matchmaking

If no game module is inserted in the Game Boy but the wireless adapter is plugged in, the Game Boy Advance starts in a search mode. If the module finds a game nearby that is looking for players, it will be shown on the Game Boy Advance display. Nintendo later further developed this wireless multiplayer system for the Nintendo DS .
