The first soccer team made it into the fourth-class Landesliga Westfalen in 1961 . Despite a 10-0 success over SV Ennigloh 09 , the green-whites had to relegate after a year. After the direct resurgence, the team was able to establish itself in the regional league and took over the sporting supremacy in the city after SV 07 Neuhaus was relegated to the district class in 1965. In 1970 the green-whites reached their sporting zenith with fourth place. Within the city, however, the club was first overtaken by 1. FC Paderborn and then by TuS Sennelager , who marched through as promoted players into the association league .

The green-whites fought relegation in the 1970s. In 1974 the team secured relegation after a decision-making round against TBV Lemgo and SV Löhne-Obernbeck . A year later, the green-whites were relegated to the district league. In 1977 they were promoted again, but after relegation three years later, the team only played at the local level in the following decades and in 2011 had to go to the district league C, which is the lowest division. This was followed by direct promotion to the district league B, which was followed by promotion to the district league A in 2017.

With Tolgay Arslan and Mahir Sağlık , SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn produced two Bundesliga players. Werner Schuck later played in the 2nd Bundesliga and Tim Paterok and Aykut Soyak in the 3rd division . Conversely, Klaus Oberschelp, a former Bundesliga player, played for the green-whites. The home stadium of the Green-Whites is the Inselbad Stadium on Fürstenweg, which has a capacity of 6,000.
