Irina Kemmsies (born May 14, 1996 in Kuschwa , Russia ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Irina Kemmsies played volleyball in her East Westphalian home at SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn as a youth . In 2011 she came to the volleyball boarding school at USC Münster , where she first played in the junior team in the second Bundesliga north . From 2013 to 2016 the setter was part of the USC Bundesliga squad. After that, Kemmsies played for two years with league rivals 1. VC Wiesbaden . After a year off, Kemmsies was signed by the Swiss first division club VC Kanti Schaffhausen in 2019 .

In 2013 Irina Kemmsies finished seventh with the German youth national team at the U18 European Championships and eighth with the junior women’s national team at the U23 World Championships. In 2017 she played in the senior national team .

Kemmsies has been the contact person for the prevention of sexual violence in the German Volleyball Association since 2019.

Private

Kemmsies passed her Abitur at the Pascal-Gymnasium in Münster. Then she studied social work.
