Aesthetic group gymnastics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aesthetic group gymnastics , international Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) , is a gymnastics sport that for a long time was only practiced by women, but has also had male participants in recent years.

organization

Group gymnastics developed from Finnish women's gymnastics. Today it is a type of gymnastics with international competitions that requires agility, balance, coordination and a feeling for rhythm. AGG is organized in an international association, IFAGG. The sport is popular especially in Finland, Estonia, Russia and Bulgaria.

Essence

Aesthetic group gymnastics is an exercise of stylized and natural body movement: the harmonious, rhythmic and dynamic movements are carried out smoothly, merging with one another using dosed force, so that it looks as if every movement arises from the last one. The whole should encompass the diversity of dynamics and speed and contain different movements: body waves and swings, as well as balances, jumps, lifting figures and certain dance steps.

competition

There are six to ten gymnasts in a competition group . Teamwork is important because the movements should be done together and synchronized. AGG is an expressive type of gymnastics: a story is created using music and choreography .

International competitions

Three groups per country are allowed to participate in the World Cup. The organizing country has the right to a fourth group. In addition, the group of world champions from the previous year has a wild card , which entitles the group to participate in the world championships without eliminations. The World Cup of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics has been held every year since 2000. The sport is not yet represented in the Olympic Games. The categories in the international competitions are the junior category for girls aged 14 to 16 and the senior category for women over 16 years of age.

International rules

The competition area is a gymnastics carpet, which is 13 × 13 m². The freestyle exercise, known as composition , can last from 2 min 15 s to 2 min 45 s.

dress

The competition clothing should be aesthetic and made of elastic material. With the exception of the arms, back and cleavage, clothing must not be transparent. The clothing can contain small pieces of jewelry, but they must not disturb the performance. The clothing should be identical within the group. Half-sneakers and tights intended for gymnastics are accepted.

Technical elements

Each gymnast is expected to perform the same technical elements or elements of the same level. The elements should be performed simultaneously, in canon, or within a small period of time. The competition program should alternate between different body movements (e.g. body waves, swings, bends, rotations , leaning, lunges, contractions, etc.) and balances, jumps, hops, arm and leg movements and steps.

Artistic elements

The composition should represent the continuity and fluidity of the movements. The composition shows the gymnast's skill, control of muscles, flexibility, strength, speed and stamina. The group should form a unit and act together as a group. The structure of the composition should be changeable and diverse and the group should use the space in a varied way. The composition should alternate between fast and slow movements, as well as variations in the strength with which they are performed. The idea and the expression of the composition should form a unit. A successful composition carries the atmosphere through the whole composition. The music should be rhythmically variable and correspond to the idea and expression of the composition. The composition should express the changes in tempo and dynamics through movements. The composition must not violate any religion, nationality or political ideology.

Rating

The arbitration tribunal is divided into three sub-groups: the technical and artistic arbitration tribunals and the execution tribunal. They award their points independently of one another. The total points add up from these three categories. The maximum points for the technical rating of the composition are 6.0, for the artistic rating 4.0, and for the execution 10.0. As a result, the maximum points per group in the preliminary and the final are 20.0 and the final result is a maximum of 40.0 points, since the points from the preliminary and final are added together.
