The SV Löhne-Obernbeck (full name: Sportverein Löhne-Obernbeck eV 1925 ) is a sports club from Löhne in the Herford district . The first soccer team currently plays in the regional league A. In the 1955/56 season the team played in the regional league ; then the highest Westphalian amateur league.
history
SV Löhne-Obernbeck was founded on October 14, 1925. The club became known nationwide in 1931 for its fistball division , which became Westphalian champions. In autumn 1948 there was a brief merger with the TuRa Löhne association called TuRa Löhne-Obernbeck . The merger was dissolved on April 13, 1949.
The footballers caused a sensation in 1954 when they defeated the upper division VfL Bochum 1-0 in the West German Cup . In the round of 16, however, the team was eliminated with 2: 9 against FC Schalke 04 in front of about 12,000 spectators. A year later, he was promoted to the regional league as a district league champion. As fourth last , the qualification for the newly introduced association league was missed. In the following years the Löhner established themselves in the state league. In 1958, the team had to play a decider to stay up against SV Paderborn , which ended 2-2 after extra time in the neutral Bielefeld . The Obernbecker won the replay in Lemgo 4-0 and stayed in the national league.
In 1969 he was relegated to the district league. Two years later, the return was successful, before relegation followed in 1974. In a decision-making round, the Löhners had to relegate together with TBV Lemgo , while SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn managed to stay up. In 1976 the rise was successful. At the same time, a merger with VfL Mennighüffen failed . While the members of SV Löhne-Obernbeck voted for it, the Mennighüffer members rejected the merger. Only because of the best goal difference in the play-off round against VfL Mennighüffen and VfL Schlangen , the Löhners were able to keep the class in 1977. Löhne played 2: 2 twice, while the competition parted 1: 1.
Two relegations in a row led the team in 1980 to the district league A. Between 1992 and 1994 and from 2008 to 2010, the Löhner were able to return to the district league before the team was relegated to the district league B in 2015. There succeeded the direct rise, with the team got 86 of 90 possible points.
Stadion
SV Löhne-Oberbeck plays its home games in the Werre Valley Stadium. The stadium is located on Albert-Schweitzer-Straße and has space for 7,000 spectators. It is named after the Werre , a tributary of the Weser that runs through Löhne. Artificial turf has been played on since 2017 . The playing area is surrounded by an athletics facility.
