Pia Leweling (born January 4, 1998 in Paderborn ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

In her youth, Pia Leweling played volleyball in her East Westphalian home with SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn . In 2013 she came to the volleyball boarding school at USC Münster , where she first played in the junior team in the second Bundesliga north . Leweling quickly developed into a regular player here and was also the captain in the 2014/15 season, where she was named "Most Valuable Player" several times. In the 2015/16 season, the outside attacker was in the squad of the first team, with whom she had her first Bundesliga appearance on October 24 in a 3-0 win against VC Olympia Berlin . In 2016 Leweling moved to the second division VC Printus Offenburg , with whom she won the championship in 2018 and 2019 . Leweling has been playing in Switzerland for VC Kanti Schaffhausen since 2019 .

From 2012 to 2016, Pia Leweling also played in the German youth and junior national team. As captain, she led the U18 national team to sixth place in spring 2015 at the European Championships in Bulgaria and in summer at the U18 World Cup in Peru . With the U19 national team, Leweling reached seventh place at the European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia in summer 2016 .

Education

Leweling studied psychology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg from 2016 to 2019 and graduated with a bachelor's degree .
