The Maschinenfabrik Herkules Hans Thoma GmbH is a company that is as a producer of rolling machines market and technology leader. The headquarters of the internationally active company with production and service facilities in Meuselwitz (Thuringia), the USA, China and India are in Siegen. history
In 1911, Franz Thoma founded a company in Siegen which, among other things, manufactured roll grinding machines and drilling machines. In 1975 the world's largest roll lathe was commissioned, and in 1987 the first HCC process computer -controlled roll grinding machine with on-the-fly correction options. With the acquisition of the Meuselwitz machine factory in 1992, capacities were doubled. This was followed by the takeover of the companies RD & D (1996), KPM Kube Plekker Microsystems (1999), Voith Paper Schleifmaschinen-Engineering (2001) and WaldrichSiegen (2004). In 2009, the Herkules machine factory in China entered into a joint venture with YATAI. At the beginning of 2011, after the termination of this joint venture, the HerkulesGroup acquired all shares in the Chinese company. The now 100% own service facility operates under the name Jiaxing GMT German Machine Tools Co. Ltd. With the acquisition of Union Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH in Chemnitz in June 2011, the HerkulesGroup continued the strategic expansion of its product portfolio . UnionChemnitz is one of the world's leading manufacturers of horizontal drilling and milling machines . In May 2012, the HerkulesGroup acquired the gear manufacturer RS Antriebstechnik (today RSGetriebe GmbH ) in Sonthofen in the Allgäu. RSGetriebe designs and produces special gearboxes for a wide variety of industries such as the machine tool or plastics industry .
