The Union machine tools GmbH Chemnitz is a manufacturer of machine tools , especially of horizontal boring mills as well horizontal milling machines . It is based in Chemnitz . The Union, founded in 1852 , is the oldest existing machine tool factory in Germany and Europe .
history
The company was founded in Chemnitz by David Gustav Diehl in 1852 . In 1872 the company was converted into a joint stock company, Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Union, formerly Diehl . In 1875 the first boring mill from Chemnitz was presented. In 1936 the UNION merged with the Karl-Wetzel-Maschinenfabrik from Gera to form the Wetzel-UNION company based in Chemnitz. After the Second World War , the company was expropriated in 1946 ; the operating locations Gera and Chemnitz were now organizationally separate parts of the machine tool combine "Fritz Heckert" under the VVB machine tools and tools (WMW). After reunification in 1990, the company was privatized and its Gera location closed in 1994. In 1996 the company "Neue UNION" was founded as an employee company, and a new factory at the current company headquarters in Chemnitz was subsequently built. With the acquisition in June 2011, UnionChemnitz was integrated into the owner-managed HerkulesGroup .
Products
UnionChemnitz's product range includes horizontal boring mills with fixed column and plate field (P series), linear table (T series) and cross-bed design (K series) as well as traveling column milling machines (Millforce series). In 2015 UnionChemnitz launched the KG precision boring mill. It closes the gap between a classic boring mill and a jig boring mill . UnionChemnitz offers horizontal drilling and milling machines with a range of 110 to 260 mm spindle diameters. They are available both with roller guides and with hydrostatic guides.
Company profile
Today the company is located in the newly built plant in Chemnitz. Here the Union has a property area of 24,000 m². The production area has 6,000 m² of space available. The Union was an employee company from 1996 to 2009. Around 70 percent of the employees were shareholders. In 2009 the Nimbus Group acquired Union Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH Chemnitz. The company has been a member of the family-run HerkulesGroup since June 2011. The companies Maschinenfabrik Herkules , WaldrichSiegen and UnionChemnitz, which belong to the corporate group, have since appeared on the market together. The group of companies expanded by UnionChemnitz employs over 1,600 people worldwide.
