The SpVgg Vreden (officially: Spielvereinigung Vreden 1921 eV ) is a football club from Vreden in the Borken district . The men's first team has been playing in the Oberliga Westfalen since 2020 .
history
The club was founded in 1921 and made it to the district class in 1972. After two third places, the Vredener slipped back into mediocrity and in 1981 were relegated to the district league A. Five years later it went up again in the district league, where the game association was runner-up in 1988 and 1989 behind SC Südlohn and Westfalia Gemen . In 1995, under coach Ralf Bugla, he was promoted to the Landesliga Westfalen for the first time , which was followed three years later by promotion to the Association League Westphalia . There, the Vredener occupied mostly midfield places, with sixth place in the 2002/03 season was the highlight. In 2008 it went back down to the national league.
There the game association was runner-up behind TuS Hiltrup three years later . With a 2-1 win against Hasper SV in the neutral Dorsten , the Vredenern managed to return to the Westphalia League. After several years in the relegation battle, the game association advanced to the top group in the second half of the 2010s and was runner-up in 2017, one point behind the TuS Haltern . Three years later, thanks to a decision at the Green Table, they were promoted to the Oberliga Westfalen. The Westphalia league season 2019/20 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The Vredener were allowed to rise as autumn champions .
Stadion
The home games of SpVgg Vreden are played in the Hamaland Stadium, which has a capacity of 3,000. It is played on natural grass .
