The Eisern-Siegener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft was founded in 1880 with the participation of the Kingdom of Prussia , the Province of Westphalia as well as the city of Siegen and the district of Siegen in order to connect ironworks and ore mines south of Siegen to the rail network.

The eponymous line connected to the state railway at the Siegen transfer station and led via the Eintracht station and Eiserfeld station, where there was also a state railway connection, on to Eiserfeld Ort and ended after almost ten kilometers in Eisern . Eintracht a chain spur track to the district Hain from. The freight traffic began in 1883, the less important persons in the years 1890 to 1892. As of December 2, 1901, the railway line to Hain up to Kaan-Marienborn extended. There were also numerous sidings . The most extensive was the train to the Eisenzecher mine .

After the Second World War , the Siegener Kreisbahn took over the management of the Eisern-Siegen Railway on January 1, 1947. They electrified their routes and introduced a tram service . This was discontinued on July 28, 1956 in Kaan-Marienborn and on August 31, 1958 in Eisern.

While at times considerable shares were in the hands of local industrial companies , the city and district of Siegen took over the entire capital in 1952. They transferred this to the Siegener Kreisbahn in 1953; the Eisern-Siegener Eisenbahn-AG was dissolved. In the course of industrial development, freight traffic was largely shut down between 1969 and 1979.
