Thilo Schmidt
Thilo Schmidt (born May 19, 1976 in Siegen ) is a German radio author and journalist .
Life
Thilo Schmidt graduated from high school in 1995 at Friedrich-Flick-Gymnasium Kreuztal , which was renamed “Städtisches Gymnasium” in 2008. The renaming was preceded by an initiative by former students who spoke out against the war criminal Friedrich Flick as the namesake, as well as media coverage nationwide and beyond, in which Schmidt played a key role as a radio journalist.
After studying political science in Berlin and attending the Protestant School of Journalism , he has been working as a freelance journalist and author, primarily for public radio stations, since 2004.
Since 2010, Schmidt has also been a lecturer in the master's degree in "Cultural Journalism" at the Berlin University of the Arts .

- Willi-Bleicher-Prize of IG Metall Baden-Württemberg 2018 in the category "Radio" for Who Owns Dad on Saturdays? ( Deutschlandfunk Kultur )
- BJV competition for the day of press freedom 2018: First prize for the radio feature Article 5, sentence 1. Right-wing populism and freedom of the press ( SWR2 ).
- Journalist award "Right-wing extremism in the mirror of the media" 2010, awarded by the DJV Landesverband Sachsen-Anhalt and the Ministry of Justice Saxony-Anhalt, for surrender in Anklam - the city and the neo-Nazis ( DLF ), The nice neighbor and somewhere in Thuringia (both Deutschlandradio Kultur ) .
- Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Media Prize 2007 from the DGB Nord , the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the State Center for Political Education , category "Radio" for The Nice Nazi from Next Door (Deutschlandradio Kultur).
- Holtzbrinck Prize for Business Journalism 2005 in the “Young Talent” category for Friedrich Flick and Kreuztal, the bought city and closed society? Privileges for trade unionists (both Deutschlandradio Berlin ).
