All or Nothing is the first solo album by the Bonn gangsta rapper Xatar . It was released on November 28, 2008 on the independent label Alles oder nix Records . The album was distributed by Groove Attack . Since February 26, 2010 the album may no longer be sold to young people under the age of 18. As a justification, the Federal Inspectorate for Media Harmful to Young People , which is responsible for indexing , states that it contains texts that have a harassing effect and encourage violence.

Music genre

On many of the tracks on the album, Xatar tells stories from his life, nightlife and the drug and red light district, but social criticism can also be found on his album. However, the album also contains autobiographical tracks such as Platz ins shop , emotional tracks such as Meine Zeit or dialogue tracks such as Alles oder nix , I want everything and Knastbrief . Furthermore, in the piece § 31 he threatens all "traitors" with blood revenge and in the piece I don't want to go away he describes his passion for the Brüser Berg district , where he grew up. In the play Baba of all Babas he raps about an 18-year-old boy who manages to rise in the milieu; In the play Eine Geschichte 1 he tells how a friend commits revenge on five people in a café and at the end of the argument, a cousin of his friend is killed. In the Hidden Track Kurdistan he uses patriotic phrases such as “What Kurdish from Iraq, Turkey, Iran, I am Kurd from Kurdistan” or “The honor our pride is known for the fight, jiyana min bijî kurd û kurdistan ( German my life, long live the Kurdish people and Kurdistan) “ in the piece Place in business . Furthermore, Xatar uses special stylistic devices in the form of fictional characters, such as B. Jetsett Mehmet, presenter of the Alles oder Nix show, which leads through the album. The artists SSIO and Samy, who are under contract with Alles oder nix Records, are represented six times or twice on the album.

Production, marketing and illustration

All tracks were produced according to the booklet information by Xatar, Ssio and the two producers Maestro and DJ Bo Tex, who are also both under contract with Alles oder nix Records . Xatar also produced three related video clips about Los Banditos Films for his debut album.

Initially, the tracks Lilane , Rache und Sex and Schachmatt were made available for free download on his homepage and Myspace in 2007 and 2008. Furthermore, a snippet, which alludes to three tracks from the album, was made available in September 2007 on the homepage or MySpace page. On the following days, the video of Alles oder nix Snippet was published.

The album cover shows Xatar, holding playing cards and thinking, on a black background. Above Xatar there is the label Alles oder nix Records presented: Xatar - Alles oder nix .

reception

criticism

After the album was indexed by the Federal Testing Agency for Media Harmful to Young People in February 2010, it hit the headlines negatively. In the opinion of the panel, seven songs on the album are harmful to young people, as they have a brutal effect and incite violence. The former is defined as "awakening and promoting sadism and violence, deceit and malicious glee" and the latter is described in more detail as "depicting violence as worthy of imitation" . The Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People emphasizes the continuous first-person perspective on the album, which, in connection with “glorifying self-description, becomes a role model for receiving young people” and “violent assertion of one's own interests as a concept of action without alternative” is the problem of the song lyrics. In the further course of the indexing decision, the glorification of vigilante justice and mechanisms of intimidation are also addressed.
