Bero Bass (born April 11, 1980 in Diyarbakır , Turkey ; real name Bernas Avşar ) is a German rapper of Kurdish descent from Cologne-Chorweiler .

biography

Bernas Avşar was born in 1980 in the predominantly Kurdish city of Diyarbakır. As a result of the Turkish-Kurdish conflict , he came to Cologne as a refugee child at the end of the 1980s and grew up in the Ossendorf district .

In 2007 Bero Bass founded the security company La Honda together with OJ Kingpin , whose name they later took over for their duo activities and their label La Honda Evangelium . In August 2007 they released their first duo album Gorillas im Nebel via German Dream Entertainment , on which the rappers Baba Saad , Ceza , Eko Fresh , Farid Bang , Killa Hakan and Summer Cem also played. In September 2008 they released their second duo album La Honda Nostra via 38th Records , which also featured rappers and singers Azad , Jonesmann , Manuellsen and Valezka . In an interview, Bero Bass described La Honda as the "voice of the Kurdish people". In October 2009, his partner OJ Kingpin stopped rapping for family reasons. The record label has been in Cologne-Chorweiler since 2007 .

In September 2009 Bero Bass released his first solo album Basstime on Carioca Music . The album features guest appearances by rappers and singers such as Eko Fresh, Manuellsen, Şivan Perwer and Xatar .

Bero Bass attracted media attention with a brutal knife attack on a 26-year-old in Cologne-Chorweiler in July 2009. He was investigated for attempted manslaughter . After he turned himself in shortly after the crime, he was taken into custody, from which he was initially released in December 2009. At the beginning of 2010 he published the Freetrack Cologne JVA , in which he raps about his stay in prison. At the beginning of December, the court saw it as proven that Bero Bass had stabbed the victim with a knife, but refrained from killing him. He was sentenced to two years probation and to pay the victim's treatment costs, which amounted to around 7,000 euros.

The solo album Gangstafilm was released on April 21, 2011 . The album features guest appearances by musicians such as Haftbefehl , Şivan Perwer and Xatar.
