Xatar [ ˈχatar ], Kurdishخەتەر, real name Giwar Hajabi , Sorani ژیوار حاجبی, (Born December 24, 1981 in Sanandaj , Iran ), is an Iranian- German entrepreneur , publisher , restaurateur , rapper and producer of Kurdish descent. He has been under contract with Universal Music Group since 2018. He is also the founder and owner of the labels Alles oder Nix Records and Groove Attack TraX . He also appeared as managing director of the now closed company Kopfticker Records . He promoted hip-hop musicians such as SSIO , Schwesta Ewa , Eno , Mero and Sero el Mero through his labels . In addition to his musical activities, he advanced to the Shisha -Bar Bar Noon , the tobacco brand Orijinal and jewelery and clothing design for Massari his entrepreneurial work. With his autobiography Alles oder Nix: We say the world is yours , he appeared as an author in 2015. In addition, he gained national fame in 2009 through an attack on a gold transporter.

Career

childhood and education

Xatar learned to play the piano from the age of nine

Xatar was born in 1981 under the name Giwar Hajabi in Sanandaj in the Iranian province of Kordestān . His father is the music professor and composer Eghbal Hajabi. In the early 1980s, his parents fled with him to nearby Iraq . At this time the First Gulf War broke out between the two countries of the Middle East. Following the attacks by Saddam Hussein's regime on the Kurdish minority in Iraq , his parents were arrested when Xatar was three years old. In an interview, he reported that his mother was tortured in custody for "betraying the positions of the Kurdish rebels". He and his parents were detained in Samawa Prison for several months . With the help of the German Red Cross , his family came to Bonn in 1985 as an asylum seeker after a one-year stopover in Paris . There she lived in a high-rise building in the Brüser Berg district on the outskirts of the city. From the age of nine, Hajabi received piano lessons. Through Dr. Dres debut album The Chronic sparked his interest in hip-hop in 1993. According to his own statement, he suffered from poverty and exclusion as a teenager: “My mother went cleaning, my father ran away. It wasn't nice to see my mother struggling day after day. In addition, I was treated like an outsider in high school. The Germans called me an Asi. Everyone was invited to the birthdays. But me. Then I became the Asi they wanted. ”After completing his school career, he completed an apprenticeship as an IT assistant. Assault on gold trucks

On December 15, 2009, Hajabi and three accomplices attacked a gold truck. The group disguised as tax investigators and police officers looted gold worth around 1.7 million euros. He then fled via Moscow to Iraq , where he is said to have been arrested by the Kurdish secret service and later also tortured. In May 2010 he was deported to Germany. On July 14, 2010, the Stuttgart public prosecutor brought charges against Hajabi and five other suspects. On October 27, 2010 the trial began before the Stuttgart district court. Hajabi made a comprehensive confession in May 2011 after the large criminal division of the regional court had promised to limit the prison sentence to seven to eight years in the event of a confession. On December 22, 2011, the court sentenced him to eight years in prison for aggravated robbery, dangerous bodily harm and deprivation of liberty. With its verdict, it largely followed the demands of the public prosecutor's office. During his incarceration, Xatar continued to work as a manager and musician. For this purpose he had a cell phone smuggled into his cell in the Rheinbach correctional facility . On December 5, 2014, Xatar's early release from prison in Rheinbach took place.

Musical and entrepreneurial career

Started as a rapper and founded Alles oder nix Records

At the end of the 1990s, Hajabi began rapping and producing beats in the recording room of a youth center under the pseudonym Xatar, the Kurdish term for "danger". In 2007 he founded the label Alles oder Nix Records , which entered into a distribution contract with Groove Attack . He was the first artist to sign Samy and SSIO. At the end of November 2008 his first album was released under the title Alles oder nix . In addition to his label colleagues Samy and SSIO, there are also guest contributions by La Honda , Azad , Jetsett Mehmet, Jamila and Jalaal. Less than a year after its publication, Xatar's debut album was indexed by the Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People.

In 2011 Alles oder Nix Records signed the rapper Schwesta Ewa . He was also working on his second album by having instrumentals played to him at night on his cell phone and by rapping his lyrics into a dictaphone. He then mailed the tapes to his label. Hajabi was finally caught and locked in solitary confinement, but the album was completed and supplemented by guest contributions from rappers such as Farid Bang , Nate57 , Celo & Abdi , Capo and Eko Fresh , and released on his label in April 2012. Publication No. 415 , named after his prisoner number , entered the German album charts at number 19. In Switzerland it reached rank 23 and in Austria rank 52. In addition to No. 415 , Alles oder Nix Records also published the albums Spezial Material and BB.UM.SS.N by SSIO, Reality by Schwesta Ewa and Sechs Kronen during Xatar's imprisonment from Kalim.

Commercial breakthrough with Baba of all Babas and collaboration with an arrest warrant

A month after his release from prison, he released his debut album Kurwa on his Schwesta Ewas label . At the same time he began producing his third album, for which he was again able to win a number of well-known guests with SSIO, Haftbefehl , Schwesta Ewa, Olexesh , Kalim, Samy and Teesy . In May 2015, Baba of all Babas appeared and reached number 1 in the German charts. With his first three singles Baller los , Hobby Hobby and Cloud 10 as well as his album Ya Hero Ya Mero , which followed in March 2019 , he reached number 1 in the German charts. Baller los also received gold records in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In May 2019, Eno's album Fuchs followed as a release on Alles oder Nix Records . Achievements and Awards

As an artist, Xatar celebrated first successes from 2012. With his second album No. 415 he entered the top 20 of the album charts.
