The Chronic is the solo debut album by the American rapper Dr. Dre . It was released on December 15, 1992 through his own label Death Row Records . It is now considered classics , and Rolling Stone led The Chronic in 2012 at number 138 of his list of the 500 best albums of all time .
meaning
The album was created shortly after separating from his rap group NWA and established Dr. Dre as one of the most famous rappers and music producers in the USA . Several songs can be seen as "revenge" on his former bandmate Eazy-E .
The Chronic started a music known as G-Funk . Slow beats that were heavily influenced by the typical, bass-heavy groove of P-Funk ran through the album. In addition to P-Funk, many samples from Soul records were used in production, while hard, percussive funk originals have been used up to now . The use of synthesizers like the Moog for bass runs and melodies was also unusual back then. This style of music would soon become the predominant style of West Coast hip-hop for years . With the album began the career of Snoop Dogg , who worked on several songs.
production
The beats for the sound carrier were completely created by Dr. Dre produced in collaboration with Suge Knight as executive producer . Samples from various songs by other artists were used.
