The Lady of Rage (born June 11, 1968 in Farmville , Virginia ; real name Robin Yvette Allen ) is an American rapper and actress . She became known through the song Afro Puffs and through her collaboration with Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg on their albums The Chronic and Doggystyle .

Career

Allen's career began in New York in the early 1990s , where she met the LA Posse production team. In 1991 she met rapper Chubb Rock, with whom she worked on the song Bring Em Home Safe for his album The One , where she appeared under the name Rockin Robin .

Her contributions to the LA Posse album They Come in All Colors made Dr. Dre noticed the rapper and got her a record deal with Death Row Records . Allen contributed guest stanzas on both his debut Tha Chronic and Snoop Doggy Dogg's Doggystyle .

In 1994 she celebrated her greatest success to date with her solo single Afro Puffs from the soundtrack of the film Above the Rim ; the single reached number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 . After the release was repeatedly postponed, their debut album Necessary Roughness was released in 1997 on Death Row Records, with which they reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 .

After the release of her album, Allen focused on her acting career, but worked sporadically with musicians such as Nate Dogg , Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound .
