Daniel Zlotin (born June 8, 1984 in Charkiw , Ukrainian SSR ) is a German director , producer , cameraman and film editor of Ukrainian descent from Cologne . Since 2002 he has been shooting over 600 music videos, mainly for German rappers. In 2007 he was one of the founders of the StreetCinema production company , of which he was co-owner until it was dissolved in April 2018.

Career

Daniel Zlotin was born in 1984 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. In Kiev , he first attended the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management ( Межрегиональная академия управления персоналом ). Zlotin also worked as a rapper. In early 2003, he finished his first music video for a song he recorded with three other rappers. Zlotin presented the video on regional channels, some of which included it in their programs. Due to positive feedback and requests from some Ukrainian hip-hop musicians, he decided to focus on the production of music videos. In 2004 he moved to Cologne to complete an apprenticeship as a media designer for image and sound at the Georg Simon Ohm vocational college . As a final project, he shot the short film " The Birthday Present ", in which the rapper Eko Fresh appears for the first time as an actor.

In 2007, Zlotin founded the media production company StreetCinema in Cologne with Christian Schmitz and Malic Bargiel , with which he subsequently produced commercials, image films and music videos. Above all, the company specialized in the latter, taking on all production steps from conception to technical implementation and post-processing. In the beginning, StreetCinema mainly shot music videos for Eko Fresh and members of his label German Dream such as Farid Bang , Capkekz , SDiddy , Summer Cem and Manuellsen . In 2011, Zlotin also began shooting for pop musicians such as Revolverheld , Menowin Fröhlich , Tom Gaebel , Maite Kelly and Willi Herren . He also worked for the first time with the rapper Kollegah, who was under contract with Selfmade Records , in the context of the massive video Massaka Kokain 2 . Zlotin also stayed in contact with the Düsseldorf label for video adaptations of Favorite , Karate Andi and the 257ers . A number of productions also followed with Xatar and SSIO from Alles oder Nix Records .

According to Zlotin, the years 2013 and 2014 represented the high phase of StreetCinema . During this time, six to seven projects per month were implemented. During this phase, the first videos were created for Olli Banjo , KC Rebell and artists from the ersguterjunge environment of Bushido such as Baba Saad and Shindy . When you stay at school , the collaboration with the artists from Trailerpark began . As of 2015, Zlotin shot several videos for Majoe , Jasko , Mike Singer and MC Bilal . A year later he realized his biggest project to date, Boom Boom, as co-director of Said Naciri. The RedOne , Daddy Yankee and French Montana music video received 23 million views on day one. After a year it had almost 120 million views. In spring 2018, StreetCinema was liquidated with the approval of the three shareholders. Since then, Zlotin has been working under its own name.
